Manthan - Greater Noida’s Largest Certified SEZ

Designed by international architectural design practice – Aedas – Manthan coming up in an area of 25 acres of flourishing development, is the first proposed Green Building in Greater Noida. The eco-friendly office hub in two towers comprising 18 floors each and 51000 sq. ft. of office space on every floor is designed to address the requirement of businesses ranging from SMEs to multi-national conglomerates with standard amenities as well as new age conveniences. Simultaneously with the intelligent use of land, energy and water consumption, the building manages to reduce environmental impact. Kapil Aggarwal, Executive Director, AMR Infrastructure, explains, “The thought behind launching this project is to make the eco-friendly habitat available to all segments of the society. We diligently made efforts to conserve resources like water and electricity, preserve natural habitat and prevent pollution to make Manthan, a truly green workspace.” Being a SEZ, to make the development energy efficient, various measures were taken during the planning and design process. The aim was to minimize the demand on non-renewable resources, maximize the utilization efficiency of these resources when in use, and maximize the reuse, recycling and utilization of renewable resources. Some of the energy efficient solutions adopted by the designers included double skin façade to minimising HVAC load and use of high efficiency windows with coated glass to reduce energy costs. Thirty per cent reduction in energy costs was achieved through architectural design such as orienting windows, providing exterior shades on south facing windows, awnings, porches and trees to shade windows and roofs during the summer while maximizing solar gain in the winter. “As HVAC and lighting are the major energy consuming components in a commercial setup, we intend to develop a green roof for overall heat transmission, centralized chilled water HVAC system with imported water cooled centrifugal chilling machine charged with ozone friendly refrigerant and re-use of water for cooling tower make up & irrigation”, says Aggarwal.
