There is Always One More Milestone
“Follow your vision, achieve your dream”: never lose sight of the former till the latter has been reached. The road may not always be easy but enjoying the challenge is more often than not the key to moving forward. This has been the mindset from the very beginning of Pankul Rathore, an up and coming young entrepreneur from New Delhi, who believes that comas may be necessary but fullstops are never an option in life. This work ethic was ingrained in him from a young age by his father, Professor Janak Raj Rathore, who still believes that if one works hard there is nothing beyond your reach. Mr Rathore’s entrepreneurial skills which took root back in 1991, through the merchandising, sourcing, production and supplying to Dubai, Egypt, Oman, Morocco, Kenya and the United States, have today resulted in an upscale and sizable corporate entity. From an expertise in the textile industry, which saw changing times due to the severe recession, in 2002, Mr Rathore decided to branch out and concentrate on developing infrastructure, building factories and investing in research and development for a speciality line of medicines. The result? today, Pankul is leading a consortium of no less than three companies, La Pristine Bioceuticals Pvt. Ltd, Eldaas, and Spaak, setting targets and more importantly reaching them. The first of the aforementioned companies, La Pristine, is an integrated research-driven pharmaceutical unit which aims to make and market premium wellness products. With headquarters in New Delhi, production taking place in Mumbai, and the international central office of La Pristine UK Ltd in London, the company already exports to Iran, Kenya, Thailand and Brazil. Almost within a year of having been launched, La Pristine Bioceuticals, with a team of 109 medical representatives, has surpassed all monthly targets set and Pankul is confident it will touch the Rs 100 crore average gross mark by 2013-2014, while stepping up both marketing within India and aggressvely targeting the export market. La Pristine which aims to “redefine wellness” by using natural, safe and eco-friendly ingredients boasts a product lineup of 22 brands which includes such products as Sorifix, a skin ointment and Viterma, a vitamin, mineral
and pine bark extract capsule, with 6 more products in various testing stages. For safety and authenticity purposes, a fullscap evaluation is done every three years. The company aims to be at the forefront especially in dermatology and cosmetology by launching such products as have never been seen before in the country. The strategy adopted is to conquer first the rural areas, working their way into the metros, with competitive pricing more affordable than most other MNC brands. The motto of “redefining wellness to enable people to feel and look good” is most definitely not just talk. As per Pankul, La Pristine participates and has launched initiatives to help in achieving the goal of redefining wellness, such as “Alokik Kaya”, a national initiative; actively supporting the cause of “Joy of living” and “Plant a sapling”, to help the NDTV Greenathon movement. The Second of his companies is a mobile oil faction, Eldaas of which he is vice-chairperson. Eldaas is the youngest of the companies, having surpassed all targets set for the current financial year, they estimate a gross of over 250 crore in 20132014. The Eldaas motto is that it is a no debt venture and functions on a no loan theory. With an enviable client list such as the Thapar Group (Crompton Greaves) and Sumi Kykon Ltd (an India-based car component manufacturer), Eldaas aims to join the club of top five companies, not only in the region, but in Europe and America as well. In order to supply effectively to the customer, teams travel extensively all over India, as well as establishing over 2,000 dealers in India as part of the overall marketing strategy. Not satisfied with only supplying oil, Mr Rathore’s main aim is to manufacture as well having already purchased land in Gujarat in order to set up a production facility, which should be ready in the next eight to twelve months. Once it is up and running and production has started, the next step for Eldaas will be venturing into car battery and tyre making. The third in the conglomerate of companies headed by Mr Rathore is Spaak, an infrastructure and

construction company, with established projects in Chennai, Srinagar and Gujarat among others. According to Mr Rathore, the most difficult aspect in juggling various projects which encompass diverse areas, is time management. If one manages time properly and effectively, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished in a timely manner. It is not enough that only the head of a company should understand the importance of time management, he says. Every single echelon of the company must embody effective time management, otherwise it cannot be a fruitful and effective organization. Spaak, a sole proprietorship form, to sum up, has its fingers in multitude arenas including civil construction, is an advisory for statutory approvals relating to setting up of a project, is a project advisory, is into manufacturing of modular kitchen and furniture, and last, but not the least, dabbles in pharmaceuticals branding and marketing. Promoting two companies, Spaak Super Infra India Pvt. Ltd., and Supershine Builders Pvt. Ltd., Spaak, speaking of itself, is hub centered in Faridabad. In its bag of upcoming work spectra, the stalwart projects include a 50 acre factory building assignment for Systematic Conscon Ltd. in Chennai. For the same organisation is another contract for a 270 acre industrial development park, again in Chennai. Yet another hallmark venture is the eight acre factory construction foray taken on for Buildtech Building Element Ltd. There is always one more milestone, the next always bigger than the last. But Mr Rathore believes the bigger the milestone, the bigger the challenge and the bigger the achievement. He searches for the milestone, is ready for the challenge and takes the achievement in his stride!
