Superstar Mithun Awarded for Excellence

The P C Chandra Group felicitated the iconic actor Mithun Chakraborty on the occasion of their Founder’s Day Celebration with the much coveted PC Chandra Puraskar 2012. The Chief Guest for the evening, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal Shri M.K. Narayanan and Mr. Binoy Kumar Chandra, Group Vice Chairman, P C Chandra Group did the honors. Eminent writer and poet Shri Sankarlal Bhattacharya also made his presence felt during the occasion. The PC Chandra Group believes in quality and brilliance. To match the tradition of being the best, the group acknowledges and recognizes the individuals who have made a mark for themselves in their respective fields of activities. This year the Disco Dancer was honoured with the P C Chandra Puraskar 2012 for his contribution to Indian Cinema. The Group believes Mithun Chakraborty is probably the only actor who has been successful in both cinema and television in Hindi and Bengali genres. He has been instrumental in bringing forth the dancing talent from distant parts of the country to give them a platform to prove their mettle. Besides rewarding the actor, the Group also announced scholarships for the students who appeared for the Madhyamik, ICSE/CBSE (10h Standard) exam and scored above 70% the previous year. This initiative has been taken to encourage the students to achieve better academic results. The group believes in creating a positive impact by paying back to its people who have made it what it is today. To materialise this purpose, the group has taken initiative to distribute rice and dal to forty-nine families who were identified as the most malnourished by the local authorities. The group will also contribute to a greener environment by planting saplings along the Rajarhat road. The evening was also a special one for the employees who have completed 25 years of their service in the P C Chandra Group. They were conferred with the special Long Service Awards as a gesture of saluting their contribution to the growth of the organization.
