Mr Bansal plans to carry out some of the important measures like escalators & elevator at major stations. Braille stickers to indicate layout of coaches including toilets also making coaches wheelchair friendly. To facilitate the boarding of trains & exit from the stations for the differently abled & the elderly. We proposed to indude 179 escalators & 400 lifts at A-1 stations affix braille stickers indicating the layout of coaches including toilets make provision of wheel chairs & battery operated vehicles at more stations & make coaches wheel-chair friendly. Even to provide employment to the disabled the Railways will reserve a specified number of Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sewak (JTBS) posts for them, keeping in view the fact that PCOs at stations have become largely redundant after the mobile revolution in India. I think, the railways will be doing a remarkable job if its able to carry these steps properly & achieve those above goals. It will be interesting to see what happens in next 1-2 yrs. I congratulate BS on writing a meaningful & interesting article about railways of everybody’s interest. Vivek, Hyderabad
