Refer your feature on different Prime Minister in April 30, 2013 issue, it was an interesting and informative one. The two most long servicing Prime Ministers of India have been Shri Jawaharlal Nehru 15.08.1947 to 27.05.1964 and Smt. Indira Gandhi from 24.01.1966 to 24.03.1977 & even 14.01.1980 to 31.10.1984. Jawaharlal Nehru emerged as the paramount leader of the Indian Independence movement under the tutelage of Mahatma Gandhi & ruled India from its establishment as an independent nation in 1947 until his death in office in 1964. Nehru is considered to we the architect of the modern Indian nation-state, a sovereign, socialist, and democratic republic. Indira Gandhi the only of Jawaharlal Nehru Child. She was known for the ruthlessness & unpredicted centralization of power. She presided over a period where India emerged with greater power than before to become the regional hegemon of south Asia with considerable political economic & military developments. She also presided over a state of emergency from 1975-77 during which she ruled by decree & made lasting charges to the constitution of India.
