G D Goenka World Institute
Director’s Message Professor Suku Bhaskaran PhDMonash Director GD Goenka World Institute | Lancaster University
The alliance between Lancaster University (United Kingdom) and GD Goenka World Institute, now in its fifth year, is embedded in the trustees’ vision to introduce one of the world’s foremost higher education programmes into India. Lancaster University is ranked amongst the top 1% of the world’s higher education institutions, a position consistently affirmed over several decades in esteemed global league tables such as the QS World University Rankings, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Lancaster University’s postgraduate management programmes are accredited by the three most reputed accreditation agencies in the world: the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the USA, the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) in Europe, and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) in the United Kingdom; thereby positioning the University amongst an elite 1% of triple-accredited business schools worldwide. Similar, affirmations of the quality of Lancaster University’s teaching and learning practices are corroborated by student and employer experience surveys and validations by international professional associations and the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (the QAA). The programmes delivered at GD Goenka World Institute mirror those delivered at Lancaster University in the UK. We aim to provide a comparable learning experience to that gained by students at Lancaster. The qualifications are awarded by Lancaster University; the quality assurance is overseen by Lancaster University; some modules are fully or co-taught by academic staff from Lancaster University; and students who satisfy appropriate criteria are eligible to transfer to the home campus in the United Kingdom. Qualifications obtained in India have the same standing as those gained in the United Kingdom. Past students (alumni) have been selected for key positions in major global corporations in India and abroad and have also been admitted to postgraduate programmes in top-tier institutions worldwide. GD Goenka World Institute has fostered a cohesive and committed community through intense personal engagement of its trustees, academic and administrative staff, alumni, students and other key stakeholders. The Institution is poised to introduce a suite of new programmes and is also expanding the scope of its activities through initiatives such as executive training, research and development, and external engagement. Obviously, these new initiatives will even further enhance the prestige and standing of the GD Goenka World Institute. I look forward to welcoming you to the Lancaster University family in India.
