India’s first & the largest Smart City

W ave Group has started the implementa­tion of the Smart City Project at “Wave City” on NH-24, which is the newest upcoming suburb to Delhi. A team of architects, engineers, and technician­s are planning to make a test case for this new city, which would be spread in 4500 acres and would create an environmen­tally friendly sustainabl­e space for 3.00 million residents once this is fully developed. Cities are growing fast and there is a need to improve quality of life and for this Cities have to very efficient in managing the affairs of the city and residents. Smart City Project at Wave Group aims to provide a unique living experience to its residents and for this IBM and AECOM are working to roll out the Smart City Program for this City, which has been recently pre-certified as Platinum Rating by IGBC. In the Phase-I of the roll out, detailed engineerin­g and design of the ICT network for the city has been undertaken, which includes a Central Command Centre. Further E-Governance Centre and City Portal is also being created. The first houses which are being handed over would be plug and play houses which would have smart energy metering, smart metering for water management and one of the best connected high speed data and voice services in National Capital Region. This phase would also feature unique homeland security system, which would cover all area through high definition round the clock surveillan­ce monitored through Central Command Centre. The city would feature energy saving technology in street lighting and would be shifting to LED street lighting with automation. The road would feature smart signals and LED Signage’s across the City for traffic management. This city would follow the zero waste philosophy and have already launched the program with new residents moving into city. City is developing sustainabl­e water management systems, which would have water leakage detection system. The city would feature its own local weather station and disaster management centre integrated with Central Command Centre. With the growing population in India, pressure on infrastruc­ture and resources and complexiti­es in managing the city, Smart City Program is the best way forward for the Indian Cities.
