A leading player in thermal contract projects

Business Sphere - - THERMAL POWER PLANTS - By Our Correspondent

The role of thermal power plants in addressing local development is noteworthy. This involves use of super critical boilers, the erection, testing, and commissioning of which is a complex task. It is only expertise and experience that facilitates flawless, excellent, and quality-oriented execution. A name worth mentioning in this segment is Golden Edge Engineering. The ISO 9001: 2015 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 certified agency has been catering to the thermal power sector, executing such complex projects the simplified way since 1970. “Our USP is our extensive knowledge about boilers& it’s auxiliaries like Electrostatic Precipitators, Rotating Equipment, TurbineGenerators & Critical Piping, given our years of experience. With 100% focus, adherence to quality, and personal attention, we ensure that every project we undertake. We have a robust presence pan India and globally. International quality standards we follow are accepted globally. We follow all compliances while executing our projects,” pronounces the dynamic Mr. Nizam-ul-Haque, Managing Director. Where there is a will there is indeed a way. This statement well substantiates the entrepreneurial journey of Nizamul-Haque who started Golden Edge Engineering in 1970 with only a few thousand rupees. What started as a proprietorship concern and a sub contractor to various agencies mushroomed over time to emerge as one of the leaders in its industry segment. Mr. Sk. Amaan, a double Master, joined Nizam-ul-Haque in 2004 and together they have been weaving a saga of success in the thermal power sector. “Boiler and turbine erection is one of the most critical of engineering works. NTPC has approved only few agencies across India for this task; we are one of them. Currently, we have around 12 projects under progress concerning different clients. In Orissa & Bihar itself, we have completed 6 projects,” pronounces the charismatic Mr. Sk. Amaan, Director. The agency has also worked in areas where local issues are humdrum. Mr. Amaan says that we here in Golden Edge believes “Where there is a threat, there is an opportunity” forthe firm. So, we have been rightly working in the same line & with the same thought. We maintain project management’s sensitivity to the requirements of interfacing with the local community. Golden Edge Engineering happens to be the only agency from Bihar to be in the mainstream contractual jobs in this particular segment.

During 2005-2008, the agency undertook several projects for L&T valued at Rs. 10 crores. Their journey with L&T paved their future way to success. The agency’s first critical boiler project was executed in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. They have several projects under progress. Worth mentioning is for customerNTPC under BHEL at U # 2, 800 Gadarwara STPS ( M.P) valued at Rs. 110 crore. Another project worth mentioning is for customer Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, formerly known as Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) under BHEL at Barauni, Begusarai (Bihar) worth Rs. 40 crore. Both the projects are scheduled to be completed in 2018. “There is no substitute to hard work, but God’s grace is always there. Success cannot be achieved without the Almighty’s grace. If one is patient and works hard, success comes fast,” says the magnetic Mr. Sk. Amaan. When asked about GST, Mr. Nizamul-Haque says it is a complex process and that it should be a little more simplified& facilitating. The dynamic entrepreneuris all geared up to diversify into civil infrastructure projects. He looks forward towards entering the global market in both the segments. Five years down the line, Mr. Nizam-ul-Haque wishes to see Golden Edge Engineering perched at a turnover of Rs. 200 crores& a flag Bearer in Oversea market.
