Australian Actresses

-

If you don’t know by now, D’Marge comes from a land down under. That means the best weather, sportsmen, and animals that can kill you. This great land of ours is also well known for some of the world’s best looking women, and would you believe these women are also some of the biggest actresses in Hollywood? Yes, indeed.

Jessica Marais

Originally from South Africa, Jessica Marais lived in Canada and New Zealand before relocating to Perth at the age of nine. She graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 2007 and went on to co-star as Rachel Rafter in Packed to the Rafters. Currently she is filming Magic City, a US drama. Jessica is just an all round nice blonde Aussie (sort of) girl-nextdoor kind of woman who every bloke dreams of waking up next to.

Bella Heathcote

Bella Heathcote hails from Melbourne, where she scored her breakout role as Amanda Fowler on Neighbors. She received a Heath Ledger Scholarship in May 2010 and was cast in her first major film role by Tim Burton, as Victoria Winters and Josette du Pres for his 2012 adaption of Dark Shadows. To be honest we had never heard of Bella before one of my best mates Jimmy (aka The Printer) mentioned that she was his step-sister. He’s now called ‘Jimmy the Almost Famous Printer’.

Rose Byrne

The beautiful Rose Byrne may be making waves in Hollywood now, but she is originally a native of Balmain, a suburb of Sydney. She earned two Golden Globe and two Emmy noms for her role as Ellen Parsons in Damages, and had roles in hits like Insidious, X-Men: First Class, and Bridesmaids. We think it was her unhinged role in Bridesmaids which really did it for us. Nothing says ‘come to me’ like an unhinged lush.

Isla Fisher

Spunky redhead Isla Fisher grew up in Perth and describes her laid-back attitude to life as “very Australian.” She got her start at a young age in commercials and children’s television shows, before going on to star in big productions like Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic. Unfortunately she’s now Mrs. Sascha Baren Borat Ali G Dictator Bruno Cohen …. so unless you’re jewish, you’ve got bupkas chance of landing her. Oy gavult!

Abbie Cornish

Abbie Cornish, born in Lochinvar, New South Wales, began her career at the age of thirteen. She has received the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the FCCA and IF Awards, as well as Best Breakthrough Performance at the 2005 Miami International Film Festival. One downside to Abbie is she’s a vegetarian, which means no cooking you a steak dinner any time soon.
