The numero uno is a highly coveted spot. Be it being number one in the school academic calendar, being the first country to launch a satellite into space, or being numero uno in your field of operations in given business niches, the number one figure is extremely prolific, very eclectic, and noteworthy. It gives a feeling of immense satisfaction, a vote of high power, and a narrative of a life well worth living and giving. Thus, the very fact that Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd. is the first company in India to manufacture conductors is a dynamic that it can never live past, that it did so first way back in 1957 in Chennai. Exudes Mr. Abhay P. Shah, Managing director, Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd., “we initiated our professional work portfolio at Pipalia Kalan in Rajasthan in 1960.” The Late founder of the company, Mr. Paras Raj Ji Shah, had the credo of installing overhead transmission lines & provide electricity in each and every house in the village. The company was incorporated in 1963. What remains remarkable during the entire professional odyssey of this company is its diehard commitment towards stringent quality regimes, sheer hard work, excellence in meritorious contributions by its staffers, et al.

At the fore front of distribution and transmission of energy in India, Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd., as on date, caters to some of the biggest state-owned and private firms in the power sector. The company, working on the steam of an integrated manufacturing production lineup, manufactures varying grades of All aluminum conductor (AAC), Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) and aluminum wire rods. A recent expansion from 400-550 MT per month to 3000 MT per month was undertaken successfully in 2016. It is one of the few companies in the country to integrate the manufacturing procedures by the installation of a state-of-the-art rolling mill. A continuous casting and rolling mill for production of in-house Electrical Grade or EC rods from ingots of aluminum churns out about 7000 to 8000 tonnes. Via this process, the company will not just be able to meet with its own demands but also cater to the raw material requirement of other cable and conductor manufacturers. A new rolling mill with a working capacity of 300000 TPA is in the works. The first phase of this is already complete with the conductor segment in place. The second phase involves setting up of a properzi plant that is soon to be finished. The company also plans

to expand by entering into the cable segment in which LT cables and aerial bunch conductors will be delved into.

Incidentally, the total production capacity in 2017 was about 10000 TPA. This figure was scaled up to 15000 TPA in 2018 and has become 25000 TPA in 2019. With the current scale of expansion in the works, this is set to hike up to 30000 TPA of conductors and 30000 TPA of aluminum wire rods. Since the last couple of years, there has been a rapid acceleration in the growth of the company. From 2016 turnover of Rs 200 crore has escalated to Rs 450 crore in the present year of operations. Interestingly, Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd. works round the clock to ensure the soundest of innovative practices and the best of technologies being used in the production procedures in its facilities.

When it comes to the raw materials being aluminum and steel, the former is sourced from BALCO and NALCO. Nonetheless, in eventualities of shortages, Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd. has its own conductor division to obtain the produce from. Industry-standard final products’ manufacture is a very standard practice for the staffers at this company. It is their duty and their delight to roll out a line-up which in keeping with the highest standards of perfection within their area of work. The management of this company is always alert about updating its systems and procedures in keeping with the most recent of practices from across the world. There is no denying that Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd. ensures the best of trades and customs in its work ethos. The ISO – 9001: 2015 QMS certification of the company is a stamp given to its creditworthy lines and procedures. The final line-up is in strict conundrum with international as well as national quality stamps like ISI, BS, IEC, ITD, et al.

Prem Cables Pvt. Ltd. is at the forefront when it comes to its social responsibility. The organization has opened a 100-bedded hospital named Nanesh P.G. Memorial Hospital in the village which offers free consultations & medications to the public. In addition, a full-fledged mobile hospital having operation theatres, pathological lab etc. provides various health care services from place to place. The company has also set up a school in the village called Sunder Bai Madhyamik

Vidhyalaya which caters to about 800 students. The company also employs about thirteen handicapped personnel.

The company is already sourcing conductors to a handful of electricity boards in states like Karnataka, West Bengal, Punjab, Rajasthan, et al. This fan-out is all geared up to include other states like Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat. The firm is also working out the finer details of trying to establish itself in the private realms and delve into supplying a lineup for EPC projects. This, incidentally, is a very big market in the country. The current phase of expansion also includes a foray into different alloys. For instance, the company has developed the techniques to produce the AL-59 conductors and is in the final stages of

bringing these too into their portfolio of products. The young members, Mr. Aniket Shah and Mr. Ayush Shah are providing the necessary push in new phase of work operations at Prem

Cables Pvt. Ltd. While the former has successfully completed his Masters in Entrepreneurship from Nottingham, Mr. Ayush has completed his postgraduation in international business from Queen Mary’s University, London(U.K). With them spear-leading the newer energy minefields and work narratives, this company is sure to rebound with higher work quantum. A new era with highly relevant work technologies, a leaner and meaner workforce, and an abiding sensibility of sticking to quality control methodologies, is all set to dawn on this empire of the Shahs. The company hopes to surpass its set target figures in future and usher in a climate of high class world standard product lineup for the entire world to witness.
