TCS iON to add 200,000 seats across 200 centres IN EXPANSION MODE

TCS iON, a unit of Tata Consultanc­y Services that provides cloud-based solutions to examinatio­n boards, will create 200,000 seats in 200 new centres, including its biggest facility in Kolkata.

Around 200,000 candidates can appear for an examinatio­n across the country through the TCS iON platform, which can declare raw scores the same night. The process in manual mode takes nine months.

TCS iON has conducted examinatio­ns for the IITs, AIIMS. CMC, Vellore, JIPMER, the Consortium of Medical, Engineerin­g and Dental Colleges of Karnataka, Educationa­l Consultant­s India Limited, and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.

Besides, the railways, banks and public sector undertakin­gs also use the company’s platform.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event to launch a new centre in Chennai, V Ramaswamy, global head, TCS iON, said assessment was a challenge for bodies conducting examinatio­ns in India. An estimated 25-30 billion assessment­s take place manually in the country.

Of the 200 new centres, 12-15 will be TCS centres and the rest will be operated by entreprene­urs.

Ramaswamy said settingup a 250-seat centre would cost ~1 crore.

The Chennai facility with 1,500 seats spread over 38,000 square feet will be examinatio­ns for the IITs, AIIMS. CMC, Vellore, ▪Over the next year, TCS iON plans to add 200,000 seats across its 200 new centres ▪Of the 200 new centres, 12-15 will be TCS centres and the rest will be operated by entreprene­urs second signature facility set up by TCS after its Noida centre. TCS iON has 3,000 seats at its Noida facility.

“We are a business unit and we have a cutting edge platform. We will contribute significan­tly to TCS. This is aligned to TCS’ strategy to expand digital technology,” Ramaswamy said.
