Fourth tranche of gold bond scheme yields ~919 cr
The fourth tranche of the sovereign gold bond scheme has drawn ~919 crore, prompting the government to say it will come out with more such tranches in the current financial year. The amount collected was the highest in the four tranches and represented around 2.95 tonnes of gold, the finance ministry said. "These numbers are likely to go up further, as the receiving offices are keying in the information of huge rush of applications received on the last day," went the statement. Of the 2.95 million tonnes, the equivalent to 500 kg was mobilised by stock exchanges. Bonds listed on stock exchanges last traded at a three per cent premium to the bond price, which was at ~3,119 a gramme.
