These two corridors are the government's plan to put in place Metro rail network of 124 km in Greater Mumbai with a total investment of ~61,289 crore.

The Metro 2B and Metro 4 corridors are expected to be operational in 2021-22. Metro 2 corridor will have a daily ridership of 800,099 commuters and Metro 4 corridor to have 8,70,000 commuters.

At present, the 11.4 km Versova Andheri Ghatkopar Metro corridor is operational since June 2014.

The state run Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is the nodal agency for the implementation of Metro projects in the city.

MMRDA official hoped that the upcoming Metro projects will not only save fule, time and improve environment but also help decongest roads. Besides, suburban railway commuters will get one option.
