Now, a ‘personal assistant’ to ease parenting burden

- SHAMEEN ALAUDDIN

What if parents could hire their own ‘personal assistant’ to help them in their journey from pregnancy to the early years of parenting? Nurturey exactly does that.

Operating out of Delhi, its mobile application works as a personal assistant (PA) for parents and enables the users to manage their lives around children by leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence and data sciences.

From immunisation recommendations to meetings with doctors, Nurturey’s personal assistance services can be customised according to the needs of a family in India.

Once parents sign up, the app utilises a range of digital productivity tools that are relevant to the age, gender, personality, interests or other aspects of kids. For example, it doesn’t just tell you when a vaccine is due, it will also suggest what to read. However, currently, one cannot ask questions to the PA.

Although a subscription-based revenue model is yet to kick in, it generates revenue currently through affiliated marketing.

Nurturey, available on Android and iOS, has raised funds totalling $750,000, so far.

Founder Tushar Srivastava said he faces minimal to no competition from other parenting tech companies as most of them are from content delivery space.

Since Nurturey’s inception in April 2016, it has crossed over 10,000 users in over 30 countries. The ideal size of its targeted market is over $40 billion globally.
