D-MART KNOCKING ON THE DOOR OF TOP 50 CLUB

Avenue Supermarts (D-Mart) touched an all-time high of ~806.8 a share on the BSE on Monday, before closing at ~775.5, up 3.3 per cent from the previous close. This made the retailer the 54th most-valued company on the bourse, with market capitalisa­tion of ~48,397.7 crore. The stock saw a record trade in volume and value for the day, with 16.94 million shares worth ~1,336.4 crore changing hands on the bourses. The delivery for the stock, however, remained as low as 11.4 per cent, indicating speculativ­e trade. The day also made promoter Radhakisha­n Damani richer by ~1,300 crore. Since the initial public offering, which was priced at ~299, the value of his stake in Avenue Supermarts has gone up from ~15,339 crore to ~39,800 crore, a gain of ~24,461 crore.
