Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular added 4.74 million subscribers during October, indicating that the worst may be over for the telecom industry.

Although Bharti Airtel has been adding subscribers regularly barring the odd month, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have been losing subscribers due to intensified competition in the telecom industry.

In October, Airtel added 3.14 million subscribers, followed by Vodafone, which added 879,413 subscribers and Idea Cellular 713,408 subscribers.

“India’s private telecom service providers have a total of 953.80 million subscribers. The data also includes the figures for Reliance Jio and MTNL till the end of August 2017 (Source: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India),” the Cellular Operators’ Association of India said in its monthly report.

The net additions for GSM operators for October stood at 3.10 million because Aircel and Telenor lost 497,264 and 1.14 million subscribers, respectively.
