CIL examines feasibility of methanol: Govt
The Centre said state- run miner Coal India (CIL) is examining the feasibility of producing methanol. “CIL is exploring the technocommercial feasibility of production of methanol and other chemicals,” said Coal Minister Piyush Goyal. These initiatives are under the feasibility study stage. Asserting that CIL is exploring alternative uses of fossil fuel, Goyal said the PSU, through a joint venture with GAIL, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCIL) is involved in a venture to set up a coal-based fertiliser plant at the site of the defunct Talcher unit of FCIL.
