GDP growth to slip below 7% this fiscal year: Experts

-

India’s economic growth is likely to be below 7 per cent this fiscal year, say experts, citing the GST disruption and the lingering impact of note ban. The economy grew 7.1 per cent in 2016-17, against 8 per cent in 2015-16. The Central Statistics Office will release its advance estimates of national income 2017-18 on Friday. SBI Research Chief Economist Soumya Kanti Ghosh said growth would be 6.5 per cent on unchanged base last year. Former Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said GDP growth would be 6.2-6.3 per cent for this fiscal year.
