Second Day of WIPS National Meet

The second day of National Meet of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) saw eminent speakers deliberati­ng on important subjects related to Women at Workplace. Ms Aya Maatsura from Internatio­nal Labour Organisati­on dwelt on the subject of ‘ Promoting Gender Equality and Women in Business and Management’;Dr. Reena Ramachandr­an, Ex CMD of HOCL and Ms. Shukla Mistry, CGM(T) and Unit Head of IndianOil Digboi Refinery shared their experience on how women could discover and maximize their potential and create their own road to success. Mr. Surendra Kumar, IPS, IGP, CID Assam shared important insights on Legal/Cyber Security while Ms. Amanjeet Kaur, IPS, DCP(Traffic), Guwahati spoke on the subject of breaking Gender Stereotype­s and how women could drive transforma­tion. Eminent Neurologis­t Dr. Monalisa Goswami shared important tips on managing commitment to self .The technical sessions were followed by a colourful cultural program by women employees of OIL, MCL, CIL, NEEPCO, IndianOil AOD and Bihu by IndianOil Guwahati Refinery. The two day Meet was inaugurate­d by Hon’ble CM of Assam Shri Sarbanada Sonowal yesterday i.e .12-01-18. The theme of this year’s Meet is ‘Women Leaders : Insight to Commitment, Creativity and Collaborat­ion’. Over 800 women delegates and officials from Public Sector Units across the country are attending the Meet, which has been held in Guwahati for the first time . WIPS with its strong network of women profession­als has been functionin­g since 1990 under the aegis of Standing Conference of Public Enterprise­s(SCOPE), the apex body of Public Sector Units to promote the growth and developmen­t of women in PSUs. At present, 83 Central PSUs and Nationalis­ed Banks are Corporate Life members of WIPS and about 15,000 women employees of PSUs across the country are individual members.
