TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT: 100 DAYS OF STRATEGIC GOVERNANCE
The landmark 100th day since Mr. Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin was sworn in as Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 7, 2021, without losing time, Mr. Stalin meted out many strategic welfare and relief measures with due diligence in the face of a raging COVID-19 pandemic.
A medical emergency was declared in the state and a 'war room' was set up to monitor and administrate oxygen, vaccine, and other medical infrastructure requirements.the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund organized funds for deserving beneficiaries.the Supreme Court of India recognized Tamil Nadu as a state with 'better health infrastructure systems in the country'. The landmark free travel in state-run buses for women, the differently-abled, and transwomen was announced. Ration-card holders across the state benefited from Approximately Rs 977 crore funds allocated towards state civil supplies. In keeping with Mr. Stalin's 'CM in Your Constituency' plan, pleas on social security issues are being actioned.
TN Agriculture Department, renamed the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department is working towards improving irrigation, agricultural equipment, warehousing, and direct farmer sales. The state announced two structured, dedicated budget schemes for agriculture, for the first time. Various welfare schemes for members of Adidravida and scheduled tribe communities, Lankan Tamil refugees, transgenders, BC, MBC, and minority communities are enacted. Approximately Rs 90 crore was meted out as relief for fishermen and their families in the state. The state is working to upgrade infrastructure of government schools, and to improve admission opportunities for government school students across universities, colleges, and ITI facilities in Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Stalin has officiated the release of Rs 17,141 crore as funds towards new employment opportunities. 35 MOU for industrial investments, five new employment generation schemes, investment for nine new ventures are in place. Tamil Nadu is progressing towards becoming a 10 billion USD economy by 2030. The '100 temples, 100 tanks, 100 gardens' scheme, infrastructure and facility improvement of historic temples and listing of temple-owned land properties online to resolve illegal encroachments and mismanagement has been accomplished. Priests and employees received essentials Covid-support and relief. Also, the state will soon see implementation of appointing women priests in temples. Support and relief for serving and retired state government employees such as those of the TNSTC by enabling settlement of terminal benefits that were long due was achieved. Besides driving incentivization and the appointment of personnel including women officers, Mr. Stalin inaugurated works for a counter-cybercrime training facility at Unamancheri, Vandalur.
