Vedanta to disburse ~6,877 cr in dividend

Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta on Wednesday said its board has approved an interim dividend of ~18.50 per share for FY22, amounting to ~6,877 crore.

This is the company’s first dividend for the cur- rent fiscal year, with the record date set for the payment of this dividend on September 9, 2021.

The dividend declaratio­n by Vedanta follows Hindustan Zinc’s announceme­nt on August 17, regarding deferment of decision on likely interim dividend for FY22.

The zinc producer in its exchange filing said the record date of August 26, 2021 as initiated earlier stands called off.

Since the last couple of years, Vedanta has made only one dividend announceme­nt in each of the fiscal years. In FY21, the company had declared an interim dividend of ~9.50 per share, while in FY20, it announced an interim dividend of ~3.90 per share. Vedanta, a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources, holds 64.92 per cent stake in Hindustan Zinc.
