Pepsico sets up largest India plant in UP at ₹814 crore

Snacking major Pepsico has set up its largest manufactur­ing plant in the country at Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. Spread over 29 acres, the plant will boost its potato chips capacity in the country. build at a cost of ~814 crore, the project is Pepsico's single largest investment in the country. According to the company, it will create 1,500 formal jobs in the area. It intends to source 150,000 tonnes of potatoes annually from the state and has plans to develop a "strong connect" with over 5,000 local farmers.the company will also commission a state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse for an improved supply chain. The cold storage technology will increase the shelf life of potatoes substantia­lly, it said.
