UK growth picks up; USA consumer prices increase
Britain's economy returned to growth in August after contracting for the first time in six months in July, keeping intact financial market bets that the Bank of England will begin raising interest rates before the end of the year. Gross domestic product grew by 0.4 per cent in August. Meanwhile, USA’S consumer price index rose 0.4 per cent last month after climbing 0.3 per cent in August, the Labor Department said on Wednesday. In the 12 months through September, the CPI increased 5.4 per cent after advancing 5.3 per cent year-on-year in August.
