DIRECT TAX COLLECTIONS RISE 16%

Direct tax collections in April-September rose 16 per cent to `3.86 lakh crore. The net collections account for 39.4 per cent of the Budget estimate of `9.8 lakh crore for 2017/18. Advance tax collections were `1.77 lakh crore, 11.5 per cent more than in the corresponding period a year ago.
