Facebook has previewed its new ‘Messenger Kids’ app in the US to connect young users below 13 years of age safely via video chat and messages with their families and friends. “After talking to thousands of parents, associations like National PTA and parenting experts in the US, we found that there’s a need for a messaging app that lets kids connect with people they love, but also has the level of control parents want,” Facebook said in its blog post. Messenger Kids is a standalone app, which can be downloaded on kids’ tablets or smartphones, but can be controlled from a parent’s Facebook account.
