SONY TO ACQUIRE EMI MUSIC PUBLISHING

Sony will buy about 60 per cent equity interest in EMI Music Publishing from a consortium led by Mubadala Investment Company for $2.3 billion, based on an enterprise value of $4.75 billion. It already owns around 40 per cent of EMI, and the latest move will strengthen its content portfolio with access to more than 2.1 million songs from the likes of Beyoncé and Carole King.
