GDP Relief

THE JUST RELEASED GDP numbers for the first quarter of FY19 — showing 8.2 per cent growth— have come as a relief for the government. However, while the recovery is robust, it still depends too much on the government’s spending – and also to an extent on a favourable base effect. The government needs to make sure that it can keep the momentum going.
