TESLA’S Q4 PRO­DUC­TION A MIXED BAG

Tesla sold 63,150 mass-mar­ket Model 3 sedans in the fourth quar­ter of 2018, well below an­a­lyst pro­jec­tion of 63,700, while pro­duc­tion stood at 61,394. How­ever, the com­pany pro­duced a to­tal of 86,555 ve­hi­cles in Q4, an 8 per cent in­crease over Q3, and de­liv­ered 90,700 ve­hi­cles, again a quar­terly record. Tesla is yet to come up with its $35,000 Model 3 sedans, but the price may soon be­come an is­sue as other brands are get­ting ready to hit the mar­ket. The com­pany also an­nounced a $2,000 price cut on all mod­els to par­tially sub­sidise a re­duc­tion in the fed­eral tax credit.
