WAITING FOR THE FESTIVAL

INDIA’S SMARTPHONE shipments declined 1 per cent YoY in Jan-March 2022 to cross 38 million units, thanks to the ongoing component shortage and falling demand during the third wave of Covid-19. The outlook for Q2, too, looks bleak, with the challenges persisting, but Tarun Pathak, Research Director at Counterpoint Research, says some demand might be pushed to the festive season.
