INSURING INSURERS

Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, has raised the exposure limit by insurance companies in the BFSI sector to 30 per cent. The earlier limit was 25 per cent. Currently, 7075 per cent of insurers’ investments are in lowrisk instruments such as government securities, state government bonds and infrastructure bonds. The increased headroom would give them flexibility to invest in different assets.
