DBS Bank India: A Different Kind of Bank

-

Here is a bank that has mastered the art of providing the best employee experience. Treating its employees like family, prioritising their well-being, building trust and actively listening to their needs are its mantras for success. Being recognised once again as a Kincentric Best Employer underscores DBS Bank India’s commitment to its employees. “We are always striving to be a different kind of bank in every sense - for our customers and for our employees. Our goal is to make banking joyful by taking the toil out of the banking experience. Our workforce plays a critical role in bringing this brand promise to life. We constantly aim to improve our employee experience by finding ways to equip them with the skills as well as the tools to excel and adapt, thereby enabling them to deliver superior experience for our customers while aiming for better business outcomes,” said Surojit Shome, Managing Director and CEO, DBS Bank India. “We are humbled to be recognised as a Best Employer 2023 in India by Kincentric, marking our fourth consecutive win. This is a testament to our culture where employees are encouraged to ‘Be the Best’, ‘Be the Change’, ‘Be the Difference’. Our endeavour is to create a supportive environment where our employees feel valued, connected, and empowered to thrive in both their personal and professional lives. The win also reflects their efforts towards making DBS the Best Bank for a Better World,” said Kishore Poduri, Managing Director, and Country Head- Human Resources, DBS Bank India. Employee experience is a key focus area for DBS Bank India. To achieve this, the bank consistently leverages technology to streamline its HR processes. Guided by a data-driven operating model, the bank’s Employee Experience Council enhances engagement by adopting an innovative and tailored approach. It also proactively seeks feedback from its staff, using these insights to continually enhance the employee experience. Particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic, the bank has strengthened its efforts around employee well-being, which has, in turn, resulted in improved productivity. DBS Bank India has further bolstered its efforts by leveraging technology and enhancing its L&D initiatives. Kishore Poduri elaborates, “We prioritise career advancement for our employees by offering opportunities to upskill in the latest technologies. This also prepares them for expanded responsibilities across roles within the organisation. For example, we have institutionalised a Seed program, which entails a rigorous 24-month training focused on the latest technology that is at the core of our operations.” With its presence in over 350 cities across India, training the team to adhere to uncompromising servicing standards is no mean feat. However, with its consistent focus on training, upskilling, and continually refining its training programs, DBS Bank India has distinguished itself as a bank that stands out, benefiting both its customers and its employees alike.
