PAN PACIFIC HOTELS GROUP has launched its sixth property on the Chinese mainland with the 220-key Pan Pacific Beijing. The Xichengdis­trict hotel is situated close to Financial Street as well as the capital’s major landmarks, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. These can also be seen from the Amber Lounge on the 18th floor of the property. Guest rooms start at 45 sqm and suites are also available. Additional facilities include a 20-metre-long indoor swimming pool – which has a retractabl­e glass roof – as well as a 24-hour gym and a spa with sauna and steam facilities. A conservato­ry-style Winter Garden is located on the first floor, directly connected to Exchange, one of the hotel’s three restaurant­s alongside Chinese eatery, Hai Tien Lo, and Japanese restaurant, Keyaki. ONE UN HOTEL, which sits next to the United Nations building on New York’s East Side waterfront, has reopened as the Millennium Hilton New York One UN following a renovation project. The hotel has undergone renovation­s worth a total of US$68 million, since 2012, including upgrades to its 439 guest rooms, meeting and event spaces, public areas, and the Ambassador Grill restaurant. The hotel is owned by Millennium and managed by Hilton. MARRIOTT has opened the first Residence Inn property in London, located to the south of London Bridge station. The hotel offers a mixture of 87 studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens offering a fridge, microwave, hob, oven, dishwasher and cookware. Amenities include free wifi and hot breakfast, communal laundry facilities, a Grab ‘n Go Market and a fitness centre. The hotel will be joined by a second Residence Inn property later this year, when the 307-suite Residence Inn London Kensington opens on Warwick Road in Earls Court.
