Singapore Airlines, Silkair and Scoot to enter new codeshare

-

Some 30 destinations currently flown by Singapore-based budget carrier Scoot will soon carry the airline codes of both Singapore Airlines and regional airline Silkair, as part of a new codeshare agreement between the three carriers.

Not all of these destinations will be made available immediately, however, and a timeframe for the full rollout hasn’t been announced. The group has confirmed that the initial round of codeshare destinations will include Athens (Greece), Clark (the Philippines), Gold Coast (Australia), Hat Yai and Krabi (Thailand), Ipoh and Kuching (Malaysia) and Palembang (Indonesia).

As part of the codeshare, travellers with Singapore Airlines and Silkair will be eligible for Scoot’s FlyBagEat benefits, namely checked baggage allowance, an in-flight meal and beverage, blanket for flights over four hours, and seat selection facility. According to the group, tickets on codeshare destinations “will be progressively made available through various booking channels”.

The codeshare tie up comes as Scoot expands its long-haul network, having launched its flights to Athens and Honolulu last year. The low-cost carrier has also announced that it will begin flying non-stop to Berlin starting the second-half of next year.

While the upcoming Berlin service is not currently included in the codeshare, Scoot is the only carrier in the group to fly to the German capital. Singapore Airlines currently flies to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich. singaporeairlines.com; silkair.com; flyscoot.com
