VOLVO XC40

Business Traveller (India) - - INDIA CAR REPORT 2018 -

Having won the “European Car of the Year” award in March 2018, Volvo Cars’ new compact SUV launched in India in July 2018. Experts have lauded the XC40 for its slick Scandinavian design and clean lines, styled beautifully both inside and out. The SUV is powerful and agile, and an effortless drive, thanks to its 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine, with a 0-100 kmph acceleration of 7.9 seconds. The interiors of the car are really striking with its unmistakable red accents on the sides and the floor, to complement the predominantly black theme with its chic brushed metal accents.

The centre console features a massive 9-inch touchscreen, which operates Volvo’s signature Sensus infotainment system, which features, among other things, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Scandinavian minimalism is visible here as a lot of hard buttons have been replaced by soft buttons on the touchscreen, lending a clean overall look, complemented by the stylised AC vents on both sides. Hi-fi enthusiasts will rave about the sound system featuring 13 Harman/Kardon speakers. There is also a wireless charging panel for compatible phones. Since Volvo Cars are all about safety, this one too comes packed with features like Volvo’s Pilot Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, detection for pedestrians, cyclists and animals, and Lane Keeping Aid. As for the drive, it is smooth, agile and extremely quiet, offering different driving modes such as Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-road and Individual, which adapt the steering wheel and engine responses depending on the selected mode. volvocars.com/in
