Qatar Airways and Rolls-Royce to test new virtual reality training tool

-

QATAR AIRWAYS HAS collaborated with Rolls Royce to test the latter’s virtual reality training tool. As a part of this, engineers will get Rolls-Royce Trent XWB refresher training in a virtual environment, thereby avoiding the need for a physical engine to work on. Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB engine is used on Qatar Airways A350 fleet and needs to be separated before its transportation for repair and maintenance. However, with the virtual reality programme, engineers will be able to divide the parts in a virtual setting using the HTC Vive equipment. The flag carrier of Qatar first ventured into virtual reality space with RampVR, — launched in 2018, this technology is used to simulate real air-side conditions for ground handling and ground operator training system. The airline uses the Ramp VR system to train its ground operating teams. qatarairways.com
