As business dress codes are becoming less formal, sneakers are now increasing­ly acceptable at the workplace

The codes of formal attire are slowly changing, as o ces are now becoming more casual. Possibly the biggest style trend at the moment, sneakers today are forming a big part of the modern man’s workwear. With digital Influencer­s and celebritie­s o en sporting them as a staple at airports and red carpets, the acceptabil­ity of casual footwear in formal spaces has now grown. e typical suit and ne shoe combo is now being replaced by the ni y corporate jacket and sneaker options. Sneakers go well with all out ts. ey are versatile enough to be teamed-up with high-end tailored garments or dressed down with athleisure. ey come in sleek designs made out of lightweigh­t fabrics and trendy styles with minimal colour, which makes them a perfect accessory in a man’s wardrobe. is trend has also been popularise­d thanks to the rise of new-age profession­als who are constantly on the go — chefs, DJs, bloggers, artists, media profession­als, entreprene­urs, among others. From a social point of view, it also represents a desire to be more fashion forward and to go beyond tradition, while keeping comfort in mind. A pair of sneakers on jeans styled with a bespoke blazer is o en the new go-to o ce look for the modern-day business traveller. “A good way to style your sneakers is to match it with the colour of your suit. One can also take it a notch up and add a pop of colour, but make sure they complement each other”, says designer and stylist Kushal Parmanand. Brands are also coming up with designs that are more functional and are collaborat­ing with designers on iconic silhouette­s to cater to the rising business casual trend. Adidas X Stan Smith and Jordan X Nike are some examples of sneaker collaborat­ions. Despite fashion industry undergoing changes every season, sneakers remain a constant and are never out of style.
