KIA MOTORS MAKES INDIA DEBUT
KOREAN CARMAKER KIA MOTORS chose to mark its entry into the Indian market with the world premiere of its stylish SUV Kia Seltos. The world’s eighth largest carmaker unveiled its locally-manufactured Seltos, which is characterised by slick design and highly intuitive “smart” features. The BS6 compliant vehicle has carved a niche in the SUV market by offering many “segment firsts”. A case in point is the Smartstream powertrain, designed to optimise overall performance. Like with all Kia Motors models, design is at the forefront and the Seltos is no exception with its signature design cues like the tiger nose grille and the commanding shoulder lines, for an unmistakable road presence. The Seltos is going to be a game changer in this segment — wait for our review in an upcoming issue — with the proposed 265 authorised touchpoints across 160 cities in India.
Han-Woo Park, CEO and president of Kia Motors Corporation says, “Kia Seltos is crafted and built keeping in mind the Indian customers and their needs. The fact that we have done the world premiere of the Seltos in India proves our commitment to and focus on this market.”
Kia Motors’ first manufacturing facility in India (Andhra Pradesh) is scheduled to churn out over 3,00,000 units a year, starting in the second half of 2019.
