Mercante; Loo-Choo and Masque

This all day dining at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane hotel is known for its fine Italian fare. The restaurant is ideal for both an intimate dinner date and a large celebratio­n. It is also a good choice for a classy bottomless brunch or a Sunday roast.

On entering the restaurant, the pop of yellow furnishing against the backdrop of light hued walls grabbed my attention. For drinks, I picked a glass of Campari, which was a refreshing aperitif to begin my meal.

To start, I had a sumptuous frito misto (squid calamari). It was perfectly crispy and was uplifted by the lemon mayonnaise. For mains, I asked for the catch of the day that was cod prepared alongside roast potatoes in a lemon caper sauce. spoils you for choice with its wide range of desserts. These include banana and caramel mille-feuille, earl grey creme brûlée, tiramisu and ricotta cheese tart.

VERDICT Highly recommende­d for authentic Italian dishes.
