Tell us something about your taste in travel

I love travelling to places where it seems like I am in a moving painting. Places like Galle (Sri Lanka), or walking through the cobbled streets of Amsterdam are two destinations I feel capture this feeling for me. I can't consider it as travel, unless I have visited a local bar, mixed with the locals, had a chance to watch a stand-up comedy or some art form through live performance; and gone on a food-trail.

Which is your favourite city in the world, and why?

Well, as of recently, I can't get over how stunning, warm and equipped Galle. Sri Lanka on the whole is probably one of the most entertaining trips of my life. I spent last winter there and brought in the new year with my fiancé and we both ended up feeling like locals due to the warmth of the people. Their food has a burst of flavours and each street of Galle attracted us as we were led by either the fragrance of coƒee or the site of cones of gelatos in an assortment of flavours.

Tell us a bit about your journey from sports to becoming an author

I believe I'm still on the field, and now the playing field is much larger. Sports, writing, and the world of business all have something in common. They all demand perseverance, passion and positivity.

I believe the crowds for an author and sportsperson have some commonality as well, which is how passionate and vocal they are when they like and dislike your work.

When I played sports, I lived life, one step at a time, in my time today as an author and entrepreneur, I maintain a similar approach, just that now, it’s about taking on one day at a time!

What are some of the must-have in your carry-on luggage when you travel?

Let's start with the stereotypical objects you'll find in my bags. Books to write in, typically three, in varied sizes. You will find books to read, and at all times, one will be a fiction and the other non-fiction. Then, there will be bottles of water, to help me stay hydrated, as I love walking through streets, with no Google maps and with the intention of getting lost whilst I am doing it. A ton of chocolates and snack bars in my bag, as I have a massive sweet tooth.

Lastly, a lot of empty space, so it's easier to lug around and more importantly, purchase local coƒee, and fill up my bag with impulsive purchases.
