LUFTHANSA ENABLES CUSTOMERS TO OFFSET EMISSIONS VIA IFE SYSTEM

-

LUFTHANSA HAS BEGUN testing a new service allowing passengers to o set the CO2 emissions of their trip via the onboard entertainment system.

The trial is currently available on internetenabled short and medium-haul ights to and from Munich, and will also extend to selected Swiss long-haul services.

Customers access the o set service via the aircra ’s IFE system, where they can choose to o set via the purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, via “high-quality carbon o set projects run by non-pro organization Myclimate”, or via a combination of the two.

Interestingly customers will be able to see how many passengers have already o set the CO2 emissions of their ight on that day, “and thus become part of a growing community”.

The service will be powered by Lu hansa Group’s Compensaid platform, which launched in 2019. lu hansa.com
