It was a fabulous Rally Argentina for Toyota Gazoo Racing as their Estonian rally ace, Ott Tänak, went on to win his first rally of the season, gaining some valuable points for the championship.

It all started on Friday when the Estonian took the lead early on in the day. After slipping into the lead, Tänak made sure that he continued to quicken his pace and build a sizeable lead. He was able to do so by winning five of the seven stages on day two. From here the Estonian never looked back and continued to march towards victory on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Toyota rally driver went on to win five of the seven stages, further increasing his lead. On Sunday, however, he did not win any stages but had enough seconds between him and Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT’s Thierry Neuville to bag his first win of the season.

Hyundai’s leading rally driver, Thierry Neuville, who won four stages overall during the weekend, was able to maintain his second place right from the beginning. This saw the Belgian rally ace close the championship points gap between himself and championship leader and M-Sport Ford driver, Sébastien Ogier. The final place on the podium went to Hyundai’s Dani Sordo, who drove exceptionally well throughout the weekend to gain valuable points for the team.
