MD and CEO, Kia Motors India
As the MD and CEO of Kia Motors India, Kookhyun Shim has been given the considerable task of establishing and expanding the company’s operations. He will be at the forefront of Kia’s first Indian manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh and will be responsible for allocation of the $1.1 billion (Rs 7,150 crore) that the Korean firm has earmarked for their Indian operations.
Shim has over three decades of experience in the automotive sector, having previously worked as head of Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia Plant Coordination Group and as head co-ordinator of Kia production in Slovakia. The Kia Motors India manufacturing facility is expected to become operational next year and, with a capacity of about 3,00,000 units per annum, it is clear that the company has big plans for India.
