The Doubles Game
This round saw a host of double victories, fightbacks, and the return of a champion
After an action-packed round two in Coimbatore last month, the 2018 MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship (INRC) kicked off its third round in Chennai. Competition was stiff and double victories galore. The weekend saw the return of the defending champion in the Indian Touring Car category, who made quite an entry into the 2018 season. All in all, there was excitement, heartbreak, comebacks, and champion-like intelligent driving. In a word? Well, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Shortened to five laps due to multiple collisions, the second race, which started with a reverse grid, saw Goutham Parekh start fourth. Goutham was a runner-up in the 2015 season and then took a two-year break. Goutham returned to the front line this weekend with a podium in race one and led Sandeep Kumar in second and Nabil Hussain in third to the chequered flag in race two for the win. Race Three
An incident-free race saw Raghul Rangasamy start on pole and slowly but surely pull away from Goutam Parekh in second place. The battle for third was a little more exciting. Ashwin Datta, who had whitewashed the competition in Coimbatore, finally got a podium position at this r ound after holding off the race one winner, Sandeep Kumar.
