Mercedes-Benz E 220 d 4MATIC All-Terrain
Bridging the space between the E-Class and the GLE-Class, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new E-Class All-Terrain. Now it’s in India, priced from Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom).
Providing a versatile, all-round offering in today’s day and age seems to be a necessity. The E-Class All-Terrain, launched in E 220 d 4MATIC guise, makes for car-like handling with SUV-like practicality, with a frugal, BS VI-compliant 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine making 194 PS and 400 Nm. A nine-speed automatic drives the 4MATIC all-wheeldrive system.
Distinguishing elements include the obvious estate body-style, roofrails, and a more aggressive front grille design. Being based on the standard wheelbase E-Class, it doesn’t have as much rear occupant room as its saloon counterpart. However, it offers a massive 640 litres of boot volume, which is expandable to 1,820 litres. It runs air suspension all round and offers ride height choices between 127 and 156 mm. Its only real adversary is the Volvo V90 Cross Country.
