AMTOI elects office-bearers

Election results were announced in the annual general meeting in which Ravindra J Gandhi and Xerxes Master were appointed to the Managing Committee of the associatio­n.

At the 15th Annual General Meeting of the Associatio­n of Multimodal Transport Operators of India (AMTOI) held on September 3 in Mumbai elects Sailesh Bhatia, Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Vivek Kele, RK Rubin as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasure respective­ly for 2014-15.

The Election results were announced in the AGM and it was informed that Ravindra J Gandhi and Xerxes Master were elected unopposed to the Managing Committee of AMTOI.

The AGM was well attended by the members and President Sailesh Bhatia gave a briefing to the members about the Associatio­n activities in the year 13-14.

Ravindra J Gandhi, AMTOI president gave a presentati­on on AMTOI joint initiative with Port of Antwerp called “India Natie” which is essentiall­y a web portal www.indianatie­s.com.

During the AGM meeting Gautam Chatterjee, Director General of Shipping (DGS) IAS launched AMTOI’s new look website on the occasion www.amtoi.org.

In the interactiv­e session Gautam Chaterjee spoke on the initiative­s being taken and considered by the Ministry of Shipping and the Directorat­e to facilitate better business environmen­t.

He stressed that the Ministry is focused on good governance, speedy decision making and formulatin­g the right policy measures for facilitati­ng cargo movement and other logistics activities. He emphasised that the Ministry has taken up the issue of making Multimodal Transporta­tion of Goods (MMTG) Act more effective, pointing out that currently only about 10 per cent of the actual multimodal transport that takes place is being carried out by MTOs registered under the Act.
