At the annual convention of DACAAI, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism and MoS for Ministry of Civil Aviation persuaded the industry to work towards finding solutions to pending issues of the air cargo industry. On the shipping front, the Ministry of Shipping will soon issue a notification to repeal 13 old rules and has identified 97 reasons for which shipping companies approach the DG Shipping’s office. The government is also planning to set up low cost Non-Major Ports because of lack of berthing facilities at ports. India’s warehousing space has grown by 60 per cent in the past six months with the upsurge in e-commerce sector which has caused rise in rentals. The mounting rentals made it necessary for us to speak with experts and find solutions. The answer could lie in a well designed modern warehouse and a little high rental cost can result in lowering total warehousing cost.

CARGOTALK also gives a sneak peak of Government of Andhra Pradesh’s decision to build 10 new ports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE has brightened the scope of trade between the two nations. UAE accounts for over 50 per cent of India’s exports to the Middle East. On the technology front, an online cargo platform has been launched for the exporter community that can lessen the time of booking a consignment from five to six hours to few minutes. The initiative can bring a change in the industry. And on these lines, each and every

Editor sector of the logistics industry has been focused upon by the government which is a sign of taking the industry to the international standards.
