Gwalior Airport to get new terminal building

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, laid the foundation for the new terminal building of Gwalior Airport in the presence of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiradit­ya M. Scindia and Union Minister of Agricultur­e and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar. The current airport has a capacity to handle 200 passengers during peak hours, and the runway can accommodat­e A-320 and ATR-72s. The new terminal building will be developed over 172 acres at 450 crore. The apron will have a parking capacity of 13 aircraft, four times higher than the current capacity. A cargo terminal will be set up there to promote regional industries.
