DON’T LOSE HAIR AND SKIN QUALITY TO WEIGHT LOSS
As has been noticed from the experiences of many, people often lose the quality of their skin and hair to their weight loss regime. This could be because of an extremely low-calorie diet or due to any other unsustainable lifestyle change. In the light of the matter, it is a relief to note that some essential dietary and life tips will not only aid weight loss, but will also help in maintaining good quality hair and skin. As nutritionist Pooja Makhija recently pointed out on her Instagram handle (@poojamakhija), these changes should not be implemented once in a while, but should be adopted as regular habits.
She shared her tips for an overall healthy look in an Insta reel with the caption: “So many I know lose their charm and glow along with the weight they so badly want to lose.
Healthy fat loss doesn’t have to strip the face of its inherent glow and shine. If you use food intelligently, it can help you lose the unhealthy fat and in fact improve the quality of your skin and hair”.
According to the nutritionist, we must never forget water. Drinking water is extremely important as it is that key nutrient in our diets that keeps the skin hydrated at all times. Having ample water can make our skin look fresh, soft and supple. She further adds that people trying to lose weight must keep away from very low-calorie diets. Low-calorie diets can lead to irreparable muscle and collagen damage.
She suggests we drink a glass of vegetable juice daily. Makhija’s vegetable juice contains cucumber, beetroot, carrots, chilly, tomato and water. It is an easy-to-prepare recipe where you blend the ingredients, strain the juice and drink up after squeezing a lemon into it. As shared by Makhija earlier in a Facebook live session, this concoction is indeed healthy, as carrots are a rich source of beta carotene, beetroots help one stock up on iron, tomatoes provide lycopene and vitamin C and cucumbers soothe. We must add good fats to our diet. From coconut oil to seeds and nuts; good fats should not be skipped. She says that while exercising is good and a healthy practice, overexercising must be avoided.
