IIT-Incubated PuREnergyTo Commercially Launch Lithium Batteries
IIT- Hydrabad incubated start up is all set to commercially launch lithium batteries at the renewable energy expo 2018, Greater Noida. Dr Nishanth Dongari, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, says that the batteries have wide applications in diverse field including agriculture and aerospace and the batteries will be available at economical prices based on the design capabilities and in-house product development. He also said that they are in talks with defence laboratories for its applications in tanks, missiles and communication equipment. These batteries can work under harsh conditions, weigh less than four times compared with lead acid technology and can also deliver high discharge currents.
The products are currently available in 0.2KWH to 2KWH (agricultural drones, auto-mobiles), 2 to 20 KWH (aerospace, electric autos and carries, telecom and house hold) and 50 to 500 KWH (residential societies, data centers and industrial entities).
