INEOS To Built World’s Largest Phenol Production Unit Along With world-scale Propane Dehydrogenation unit
INEOS Phenol the largest producer of Phenol and Acetone in the world have announced that it is planning to expand the capacity of its plant in Mobile, Alabama (US) up to 850,000 tonnes a year, making it the largest phenol production unit in the world. This will ensure their anticipated growth in demand and will show a clear commitment to their customers to meet their longterm needs in North America.
Taking this ambitions plan a step forward, INEOS also announced their plans to construct a world-scale Propane Dehydrogenation unit (PDH), together with the first Gas Cracker.
INEOS has selected McDermott’s Lummus CATOFIN Technology as the operating technology
® for its planned PDH unit and a License Agreement has now been signed. In parallel, another agreement has been signed with Clariant for the long-term supply of catalyst for the unit.
The PDH unit will have a nameplate capacity of 750ktpa of polymer grade propylene and is planned to be commissioned in 2023. Propylene from the asset will feed INEOS’ polypropylene units, as well as a number of other downstream propylene derivative businesses.
