M&HCVs decline; LCVs grow
The Indian auto industry produced 13,421,500 vehicles during the period between April and September 2016, registering a growth of 11.92 per cent. During the same period last fiscal, 11,992,184 vehicles were produced. A total of 11,652,160 vehicles were sold in April-September 2016, marking a growth of 16.33 per cent, as compared to 10,016,845 vehicles sold during the same period last fiscal. During April-September 2016, 333,431 commercial vehicles were sold, registering a growth of 5.99 per cent as compared to 314,595 vehicles sold during the same period last fiscal. In September 2016, 61,621 CVs were sold, marking a decline of (-) 1.95 per cent, against the sale of 62,845 during the same period last fiscal. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at (-) 1.19 per cent in April-September 2016, selling 137,664 units against 139,325 units sold during the same period last fiscal. In April-September 2016, 195,767 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) were sold, registering a growth of 11.69 per cent, against the sale of 175,270 in the corresponding period last fiscal. LCVs registered a growth of 16.43 per cent in September 2016, selling 36,873 units against 31,671 units sold in the corresponding month last fiscal. Three Wheelers sales grew 13.39 per cent in April-September 2016, selling 287,738 units as against 253,768 units sold during the same period last fiscal. In September 2016, 51,950 three wheelers were sold, marking a growth of 4.9 per cent against the sale of 49,524 units in the corresponding month last fiscal.
Exports
In April-September 2016, automobile exports declined by (-) 10.68 per cent. Commercial Vehicles exports registered a growth of 10.24 per cent with the export of 55,946 units against 50,749 units exported in the corresponding period last fiscal. M&HCV exports grew by 19.36 per cent in April-September 2016 with 19,881 vehicles exported as compared to 16,656 units exported during the corresponding period last fiscal. In September 2016, 3,355 were exported, marking a rise of 41.38 per cent, against 2,373 units exported in September 2015. LCV exports grew by 5.78 per cent in April-September 2016, with the export of 36,065 units. In April-September 2015, 34,093 units were exported. In September 2016, 6,059 LCVs were exported, marking a growth of 10.10 per cent as against 5,503 units exported in September 2015. In April-September 2016, 149,917 three wheelers were exported, down (-) 39.32 per cent when compared to 247,061 units exported during the same period last fiscal. In September 2016, 27,128 three wheelers were exported, marking a decline of (-) 39.35 per cent as against 44,730 three wheelers exported in September 2015. In September 2016, 86 quadricycles were exported.
